Hi there,

My name is T. Callahan.

I live in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood with my wife and two of the most adorable black cats you’ll ever see. Away from the page, I love running long distances. True to the spirit of Chicago, I enjoy mixing records with my friends and seeing live music. And when time allows, I love getting out of the city and exploring the nooks and crannies the Midwest.

Useful as running is, I am equally grateful for time spent in stillness. With an ever-evolving contemplative practice — thanks in part to the cage-rattling experience of a pandemic — meditation and mindfulness play an integral role in my creative process.

I love writing about food, nature and the environment, sports and health, even some fiction. I can find an angle of interest in just about anything, the throughline that makes a story worth telling. Whether it’s a well researched article, an impassioned essay, or finding harmony between two records, I love nothing more than when feeling the gravity of a good story take over.

Some of my favorite writers include Michael Pollan, Steven Pressfield, Alan Watts, Andrea Wulf, and the countless nameless wonders I stumble upon here and there across the world wide web.

Thanks for stopping by.
